Nursery and over feeding?

Is this too much food for an almost 2 year old? He is a good eater but he’s been sick after nursery twice now and he went to nursery yesterday and he’s cried none stop since waking up 7am this morning /:

I wouldn’t say so, the portion sizes aren’t huge. Majority of nurseries do morning snack & afternoon. 😊

They don’t give full fruits, or bowl full of cereal & entire pieces of toast so wouldn’t really say that’s too much food. My 2 year niece goes to nursery & gets one slice of apple or two grapes which she demolishes 😂 The sickness could be triggered by something else, have the nursery said he was upset at something which caused sickness? Or maybe unwell?

I'd say that looks normal based on what the nursery my toddler goes to serves. Some days she eats all and extra of some dishes and some days she eats virtually nothing. Toddlers are good at self regulating, it might be that your kid has a bug picked up at nursery rather than over eating

I’d be more worried about my under 2 year old eating raw apple, unless they’re grating it, but apple scares me 😄

Have you checked him for food allergies? Our baby girl can't eat chicken, it makes her vomit until it's out of her system. With that we haven't tried turkey either.

Pretty standard for nursery and the portions are very small at nurseries. My daughter would eat all her food at nursery and still come out like she'd never been fed lol x

Thank you everyone, he must be poorly, he’s been really fussy all day, he’s been to the doctors twice so far but if this continues I will take him again

I can rule out over feeding as I thought this may be the case

He is a good eater which is amazing but I was unsure if they fed him until he turned down food as he often doesn’t say no to food 😂 he had two plates full of tea last time he was there as they said he asked for more so they gave it to him 😂

Sounds normal to me? If your child isn’t sick from all that eating, it’s fine. They might be going through a mini-growth spurt, or have reached a new development stage, and they burn their energy more easily anyway the more active they are. I would be happy that he is eating. With toddlers, you never know how they will be once they wake up, they can be happy one morning, and a complete opposite the next morning - like it’s normal 😆 have you ever just woken up feeling like grumpy for no reasons? Toddlers are like that too.

My LB ate all his lunch and pudding at nursery. Had FIVE pizza pinwheels as well as fruit for tea. Snacks on the way home and then had another tea at home. That was along with a snack in the morning, breakfast when he got to nursery as well as a snack. Kid loves to eat 😂

I think if he wasn’t hungry then he wouldn’t eat it. Seems like good varied food to me 😊

Yeah, the portions are pretty small for children. My daughter eats a small breakfast when she wakes, eats breakfast at daycare, lunch, and a pm snack.

As a nursery nurse the portions are usually catered to the children's ages and if they don't want it they don't eat it x

This seems very normal. They will also be tiny portions that are given!

Portion sizes aren’t massive in nursery , the plates about the size of a adult hand

Thanks everyone, I will probably feed him way more by the sounds of it as he has big portions at home 😂🫣 I am very happy with the care he’s received at nursery so far 🥰

That’s nothing compared to what my 22 month old eats at nursery. He has seconds and thirds plus things like biscuits inbetween because he could eat for England. The nursery have said they’ve never seen anything like it 🤣 they literally keep snacks in the room just for him between meals/snack time

Sometimes they put pictures on the nursery app, if they put some pictures of the food for you it could be a nice thing for them to do
