I am under the preterm labour clinic for 2 reasons, I had part of my cervix removed for precancerous cells, and then I was fully dilated, pushing for 1.5 hours and needed a c section. (I’ve also had a previous miscarriage too) It’s nothing to worry about, and it’s a good thing you are getting an extra check. They’ll take a urine same and blood pressure. Then you may have a swab of the cervix (I didn’t this time but did in my first pregnancy) and then you’ll have a vaginal ultrasound to measure your cervix. Hopefully it will be a good length and they’ll discharge you (happened in my first pregnancy) this time it is a little shorter (still above where they get worried) so I have another check early April to make sure it isn’t shortening. If they are worried they will keep monitoring you or take action, so you’re helping the pregnancy. There wouldn’t be anything a doctor did when you were last in labour or from a c section as it’s your cervix. Plus the bonus is you get to see baby again.

Thank you so much for going into detail. Its really reassuring. I think when i got the letter i panicked and thought omg what if i cant carry full term and then you google and obviously that isnt the best thing to do. Hopefully it all goes well as you say and added bonus of seeing bubba. Thank you xx

They also class preterm as going into labour before 37 weeks. So it isn’t like they think you’re at risk of going into labour any time soon. It’s just precautionary.

@Danielle oh do they actually! Guess ill just have to wait and see what this afternoon reveals! Pregnancy is so scary!
