25 weeker

My baby girl was born at 25 weeks in July last year. She came home from hospital at the end of October still on a small amount of oxygen. This winter has been horrible. She’s been in and out of hospital at least once a month I would say with chest infections, rsv and bronchitis. Has anyone had similar experiences? And is there anything anyone tried to stop their little one getting ill all the time. It’s heartbreaking! She’s got an older brother too so balancing the two, especially when I have to stay in hospital it’s mentally so tiring and her brother who’s only just turned two is starting to act up too now. Just need some advice on anything I can do to help get through this! And a bit of reassurance that this won’t last forever 😢

That sounds incredibly tough, and I just want to say that you’re doing an amazing job balancing everything in such a challenging situation. Your little girl is so strong, and so are you! I completely understand how exhausting and heartbreaking it is—my little girl was born at 34 weeks, and she’s been constantly ill as well. It feels like every little bug hits her harder, and the hospital trips are so draining, both physically and mentally. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be with a two-year-old as well. Just know that you’re not alone, and this won’t last forever. As they grow, their immune systems get stronger. We’ve had an inhalator and it kind of helped although the GP keeps saying everything is fine although my little girl has been coughing since December 🤷🏼‍♀️

@Klaudia aww thank you so much! ❤️

My friend had her son at 25 weeks and they are in and out of hospital.

My kids both were sick a lot when they were younger, something I did with both of them was had their tonsils and adenoids removed and they never got sick as much as before. Myself and both my younger siblings have theirs removed as well. Not sure if that would help but with my youngest, after having this and that so close in between in a 6m time frame, his dr recommended it so maybe it would be something to ask? Hmmm

ugh, that sounds so tough, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you and your little ones... I haven't been through exactly that, but I’ve heard that keeping them away from crowds and washing hands like crazy can help a bit, and just know you’re doing your best, it won’t last forever! here's what the 'Heal Baby Care App' says.... "I'm so sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with your baby girl’s health and the impact it’s having on your family. It's common for preterm infants to have respiratory issues, especially in their first year, but it can be incredibly tough to manage. To help reduce the risk of infections, ensure good hand hygiene, limit exposure to sick individuals, and consider keeping her away from crowded places during peak illness seasons.
