@Preethi thanks so much for sharing, how did they confirm baby’s movements were reduced? My understanding is baby’s are different so my baby may move more or less than your baby? Or is is that monitoring showed something? I have induction booked at 41 + 3 so slightly worried it will increase the likelihood of having a c section
My induction was slow (over 3 days) and ended in an emergency c section. Part of that process taking 3 days was due to the ward being busy, so I would be prepared for it to take a while if it’s also busy. Good luck! X
My induction at Kingston also ended in emergency c section. I was induced and my water broke within 12 hours but I wasn’t moved to the delivery suite until over 24 hours later, as above there was no room. So I ended up getting an infection and had to have emergency c section. Baby was in nicu as also developed the infection. I’ve been told I need induction again in my current pregnancy so will opt for c section. However I have also heard a lot of positive induction stories!
@Nishat I couldn’t feel my baby move much and they checked me and advised induction
I was induced for my first baby at 38 weeks for reduced movements and was admitted for over a week before being induced. It was really long and had to wait for a room and then a midwife/nurse availability. Altogether I stayed in the hospital for 10 days and I felt it was a really hard experience for my first birth. The ladies who were also admitted also had similar experience but I think it has since changed I hope. I’m pregnant again with my second and can only hope it won’t be the same again if I am to be induced again.
I was induced as I was 2 weeks overdue! I went into labor in the birthing suite and tried to follow my original plan but 28 hours later, I just was so exhausted, concerns I was overdue hitting over 2 weeks and not really dilating. I did go down for an emergency c section in the end though. The whole time I felt they were so considerate of how I wanted to try and get through it all etc and they took such great care of me.
I was induced due to reduced movements and it was very slow, the induction wasn’t working for me! I was in there for 4 days before having a c section! It was very busy and unsettling during the induction but the team that did the c section were amazing and lovely and kept me calm the whole time x
Oh gosh thanks everyone, I’m feeling a little nervous that most comments are saying there was delay due to how busy it is!
yes i was induced at 38+3w they were able to pop my waters straight away and was able to go straight on the hormone drip the nurses are lovely and will listen to your needs!
Hi, yes, I was induced as an outpatient at Kingston Hospital in November at 41+5 at 1pm by pessary. Contractions started within about two hours and my waters broke a few hours after that. I went back up to hospital and I was given my epidural at my request in a delivery room quite quickly. As it was my first baby, labour took a while, about 33 hours after being induced, but everything went smoothly and my baby was born vaginally at 10:06pm the next day. Kingston hospital and their midwives in the delivery suite were amazing and I can't recommend them enough.
@Naomi thank you for sharing! I’m currently 40 + 4, I wanted to wait until 41 + 5 to induce to see if it can happen naturally but I don’t think it will and they’re pressuring me to induce sooner rather than later
@Nishat You're welcome. If you don't mind me asking, why are they pressuring you to do it earlier? My induction was booked at my 41 week midwife appointment for 41+5. I was getting fed up and my midwife offered to book it in incase labour still hadn't started. She told me it was standard to book no earlier that 41+5 unless there were medical reasons. Of course my labour still didn't start on it's own, so I'm very glad I had my induction.
@Naomi I don’t have any risk or complications but they keep saying because I’m 40+ it’s recommended. My midwife said that the hospital’s policy is max is 41 + 3 for induction but the doctors are very pushy to do it sooner! Midwife said it’s to protect their stats tbh
I was induced at Kingston after my waters broke but labour didn’t start naturally, had lovely midwives, nice room and born marginally with no intervention about 16 hours after induction started! They were also accommodating in waiting a day or two after the waters broke to try and avoid induction x
Hi, yes. I was induced when I was 40 weeks as the baby’s movements reduced. They were good in explaining the options etc. I took the propase and waited to go into labour. They induced me on 26th July 5pm and I delivered my baby on 27th July night. It was for my second
