Anyone been given norethisterone?

Been told to try this for a week to hopefully get periods back. Anyone else had this?

The "period" you have from taking progesterone and then cutting cold turkey is actually only a withdraw bleed not a true period as there will be zero ovulation that occurs. The pill will mimic the hormone increase in your body that would naturally be occurring if you ovulated and when you stop taking it it will simulate what would happen if you did not become pregnant and the hormone would stop producing thus inducing a period. The point of taking progesterone is to clean the body and prevent the thickening of your lining by causing the withdraw bleed. Sometimes doing this can also jump start the body into doing it on it on its own in future months but it is not a given and more times than not it will be prescribed to take every 3-4 months that you do not have a true period. My I took progesterone back in 2019 for about 3 months (took it a week then stopped each time to induce a withdraw bleed) then I didn't want my body to become dependent on the pill for the hormone.

I feared this was just another pcos bandaid just like bc is and only good for me to prevent thick lining should I go 3-4 months without a period as a precaution. About 3 months later I ovulated and became pregnant! That might or might not have been due to the progesterone. This time around ttc#2 it has not worked again and again I think only bandaided things. Metformin and ovasitol (name brand) has done WONDERS and is so amazing 👏 🤩 super stars for real brought my period back and I've had a normal one for about 7 months now whereas before I would go years without a period! My pcos is heavily insulin resistant as many many peoples is.
