Daycare

What would you choose? I’m looking at switching my sons daycare for many reasons right now we have 2 top choices. 1. A home based daycare provides all meals and snacks only 3 other children (will be 5 with my twins). Play based learning and pretty good reviews. About 8 minutes from home. No formal communication app, no cameras, and expects drop off at door not coming inside. Closed for major holidays 2. Bilingual (Spanish/english) Montessori center. Only been open about a month. 15 minutes from home in opposite direction of work. Currently only 4 kids in class but has capacity of 11, 22 total capacity in the center. Provides snacks no meals. Use formal communication app for updates throughout the day, bathroom logging etc. Functions more on a school schedule, closed for 1 week spring break, 1 week winter break, 1 week summer, and major holidays $55 dollar a week difference per child with the Montessori being more expensive.

I’m all for home daycare but I don’t like the idea of drop off at door. When my husband was in college, he lived in a room that belonged to a woman who ran a daycare on her first floor but rented out the upstairs to students. The kids were just stuck in a playpen screaming most of the morning that I was there while she watched TV and I think the parents didn’t know about the students living upstairs. I would insist on being able to come inside.

@Allison see stuff like this is my concern. At their current center and the Montessori it’s and open door policy so this makes me raise my eyebrow a bit

Not being allowed to enter is a red flag, for me. $55 extra a week but I can see the facility and can check in on the cameras? It's a yes for me.

@C I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being paranoid about that being weird.

I’ve worked at multiple locations and I wouldn’t trust either or any

@yesenia welp my mom died so don’t have a choice

@Daija hell no. Why wouldn't they want you to look inside where your children are going to be? You should absolutely be able to look around and make sure everything is good. You're leaving your two most precious little loves there. If you can afford the extra $55 a week def go with the other one.
