What am I doing wrong?

Anyone else’s baby is really cranky when outside? Especially in restaurants? From the moment I sat her down in the high chair she would want to be held or want to be out. It’s really hard for us to enjoy a meal out as a family of 3. I bring loads of different food and toys for her, and I also order something from the kids menu but she is just very unsettled. Up to a point I can never finish my food even I try to eat very fast. And end up holding her and walking around. If I hold her or sat her on my lap she is also upset, so I have to be on the move. I dare to take her out to restaurants and anywhere indoor that involves her staying in one place, as I know she would be kicking off. Her dummy can no longer soothe her if she starts to kick off. Anyone else’s baby like this? I feel very stressed when it happens

She could have sensitive hearing , my eldest is the same especially at school he would complain about loud noises , so he wears ear plugs/ ear defenders when he was younger , 9/10 also we qould just keep him in his buggy instead of highchair as he liked to escape lol

I would say mine is pretty similar, sometimes food will occupy my little one for the time takes to eat it but he's wanting to be out walking and hates to be sat still unless on the move in the pram (even this can annoy him sometimes). Thinks it's a phase which will probably go on forever 🤣 we basically decided meals out weren't gunna be the same again for a long time x

This is really, really normal. Lots of babies and toddlers, especially those that can move themselves around freely, don’t enjoy being confined to a high chair or being made to sit still for long periods of time. You’re not doing anything wrong, and without meaning to sound blunt, perhaps you just need to adjust your expectations of your little one when in places/situations that don’t always lend themselves to what little people are ready for/enjoy doing. I don’t know many families with young children that can have a peaceful meal out, where their young child happily sits for most/the entirety of the meal.

My baby just likes to be up walking and only stays in the high chair happily for about 20 minutes! So I try and not put her in until the food has arrived. I will just walk around with her, which isn’t always something you can do depending on the restaurant. We try and choose places that aren’t mega busy, have a play area or is a garden centre. It just means my partner is sat on his own but I think he appreciates the peace 😂 x
