Delivery date accuracy

This is my first pregnancy and everyone I talk to says/has said that I will probably give birth a week+ after my actual due date. It seems to be the norm that it takes longer for first baby specifically? I just wanted to check and get a better idea what your experiences were with your first baby’s !

40+5

I was 40+1 but I started contractions on the evening on 40weeks xx

40 weeks :) my son was born right on his due date lol

40+5

40+5

37+3

42 exactly! Went in for an induction in the end at 41+5

Induced at 41+4

40+2 over here. I was 3.5 weeks late myself Just had my second and she was 39 weeks but that was scheduled for medical reasons. Most of the other moms on my birth group went over by a few days. I think the longest over was a week. The only one who was early was having trouble with her pregnancy so not a surprise.

My first was 36weeks and 3 days. Second one. Induced at 34 weeks

36+5 spontaneous labour. I did spend the day with an electric hedge trimmer though so midwives think the vibrations are what caused my waters to break 😅

My first came a week early my second right on her due date we’ll see about #3 in June

41( following a sweep)

My Contractions started on and off from my due date daughter was born 10pm 40+3

Induced at 40+5. Due dates are best guesses based on questionable-at-best science. As long as you are comfortable and baby is growing fine, let baby keep cooking as long as possible

I’m sure I read once that that’s actually not true. First babies are usually more likely to be late than 2nd third etc. but I believe the statistic is that hardly any babies are born on their actual due date (from memory like 3%) but early or late could go either way, regardless of it being your first.

42&3. It’s definitely good to think of it in terms of a due MONTH instead of due date so you don’t make yourself crazy. Also try to give family and friends a ballpark on the later side or they’ll allllll be “just checking on things” right when you need peace and quiet to prepare for birth and baby

38+3 following a sweep due to gd complications, but was 1cm dilated before the sweep

40+5 for me! remember due dates are just an estimate

My water broke on my due date at 5 am. I labored for 30 hours. She was born +1. 🙃

40w1 induced with my son, wish id waited (turned to a csection). 41w induced with my daughter with a successful VBAC

I was 37 weeks when i gave birth to my first baby!

41 + 5

I was told the same thing, but I had my first baby 6 months ago and delivered 2 days before my due date. Due date was 8th sept. Contractions started 7am on 5th and ended up giving birth at 2am 6th September. I just think it's one of those things that you never know when it will happen. It can go over or before.

My first came almost 2 weeks early!

So babies come when they want to come out.. 😂 some come way before the due date. .. some come exactly on their due date ...and some babies prefer to come a week or 2 later then expected. Either way it goes just try to be ready regardless ..get your bag packed, have it right near the door and don't forget your birth plan if you have one. Keep that on your phone or purse. Other than that.. all of my kids were born before their due date but definitely varies from person to person.Everyone is different. ❤️

42+2 for me! If you can ask your mum whether she went early or late with her pregnancies that might give you an indication for your own. I wasn’t surprised I went late

I had my first at 37 due to pre eclampsia If I'd gone naturally maybe I would have been.late. they do say 1st is late but always plan for the unknown is what I learned !

Waters broke 40+3 in the evening, had baby following morning at 40+4

40+5

40+3. Spontaneous labour but did have a sweep at 40 weeks

I was 35+6 with my first (and only) and had her 6 hours after first contractions! She came early and fast 😂

My waters went at 35+2 weeks, she arrived at 35+5 weeks 💖

6% of babies are born on their due date. Most 1st babies are late. My one and only boy was 9 days late … I suspect he was actually much later and they got my due date wrong (He ended up being beyond 99th percentile and the due date didn’t match up with my cycles)

41 + 2

my son came 36+6 Was deff not ready. Thought I had at least 2 more weeks .. but nope, water broke and he came early. He’s technically a premie by 1 day

My first was 36.4 weeks, 2nd 36.6 weeks and third 36 weeks.

40 weeks 2 days. My sister-in-law just gave birth to her first baby at 37 weeks two days. It is different for everyone and I wouldn’t take into account that you may give birth late. My friend also gave birth on her due date with her first so it’s always just an estimate that you will give birth around the datethat your doctor gave you

For first time moms 50% of women give birth by 40 weeks and five days and 75% of women give birth by 41 weeks and two days. I gave birth at 41 weeks and two days with my first. Not being induced was very important to me because I wanted to avoid the cascade of interventions but I had a induction scheduled for 41 weeks and three days, but thank goodness she came on her own and had a really smooth delivery.

My baby just born this Dec 2024, my due date suppose to be on 17th but he’s born on the 8th.

I was induced with my first at 41 weeks. I was 8 days late myself (oldest), then my sister was 6 days late and my then my brother was 10 days late so who knows 😅

@Amanda my little one was born December 7th! Her due date was the 13th. They are so close!

I actually went into labor the day after my due date and baby was born 2 days later. So 3 days past due date.
