Starting nursery

Hello! Would you start nursery just one month before a holiday? We visited a nursery and immediately fell in love with it—our boy didn’t want to leave and is eager to play with other children. Initially, we planned to start in September, but then we considered an earlier start in May, thinking that attending twice a week would be good for him. However, we have a holiday planned for May 30th, and now I’m really worried that this might not have been the best idea due to the risk of illness after starting nursery.

There are less bugs in the summer but nevertheless I would not start right before going on holiday, there’s a high chance he may become unwell, even if it’s with a cold. The first year of starting nursery is hell for illnesses, especially in the winter.

I would just start him when it suits you. Ours has been going for over a year now 5 days a week and has been off sick only twice with a temperature. He’s just not a sickly child 🤷🏻‍♀️

If it was me I would wait until after holiday. Only been back week or so after half term and my little one already off ill again!

He maybe fine my boy starts last November twice a week and he was sick just once. But me & dad ( we eastern European) we catch whatever he brings to home and it looks like we are not immune for those viruses ( both 15 years in uk) before my son starts nursery we never get sick.

Thanks for posting this, I have the exact quandary! I didn't think of illnesses but it is a strong consideration. I was only thinking about settling and unsettling.
