@Lizzie thank you! 💓
Not emergency, but a regular cleaning with x rays at 27 weeks with my first baby. As long as they’re aware, they know what and what not to do. I’ll be getting a cleaning soon and I’m currently almost 11 weeks pregnant with my second. Dental hygiene is super important to me, it’s the gateway to the rest of your body so I always do what I can especially when pregnant to protect my mouth.
I chipped a tooth on watermelon (quite how is an unsolved mystery) and had to make an emergency dental appointment out of town (was visiting my in-laws), I was 35/36 weeks pregnant. The Dentist was so kind, and so was her assistant and receptionist. Was relatively quick and easy to get a crown (generally takes ages for me due to the fact I have a small mouth) and she was the first dentist who ever filed a filling or crown down enough the first time that it was smooth and comfortable. Overall, it was actually a great experience as dentists go lol You'll be OK ❤️
I would consult your obgyn or primary. Definitely talk to your dentist about your concerns when it comes to the health of your baby
Unless it is desperate, avoid.
i had a tooth taken out at 36 weeks!
Had an extraction while pregnant. It hurt wayyyy more than I expected too. ( I had an extraction while Not pregnant and it wasn’t that bad) Also had a root canal like 4 days pp. went well but all the trauma like to my body and nervous system affected my supply for sure
Not emergent, but I had to have fill ins done. I had severe HQ and it TORE my teeth up 😅
You can get dental done, just have to be without any anaesthetics
Hi there! Practice some good breathing techniques, and maybe bring some headphones into the surgery if you can to concentrate on music or a podcast for a distraction! The dentist can use a ‘plain’ local anaesthetic without adrenaline which can be safer for you/baby. Usually the emergency dental treatment outweighs the risk of not having it done.
So not emergency dental treatment physically but I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth during my second pregnancy that had numerous infections throughout. I was referred for a surgical removal but had to undergo antibiotic treatment whilst pregnant and after birth whilst breast feeding. (Since had all 4 removed which is a huge relief!) I also got gingivitis and underwent gum treatment but they waited till after birth for that. They know what they’re doing and honestly you want less issues whilst pregnant so if they think it’s necessary then listen to them! You’ll feel better in the long run if you get it sorted now 🙂
