Ultra processed baby food

Read an article in guardian about pouches etc and now can't stop feeling guilty about how I give my LO pouches (usually mixed in with fresh veg etc) despite her having a generally healthy diet and I usually just go for the single fruit/veg pouches...anyone else?!?!?

No need to feel guilty, you do what you gotta do to feed your baby 😊 But I will say, those things are sooooo easy to make at home in a food processor! Just look at the ingredients lists for some ideas: I've been making batches of my own little purees and I'll usually freeze some in an ice tray so that whenever it's meal time I can just conveniently pop one out! My 10-month old loves them and it's way cheaper to do it that way than buy the packaged stuff. Just a friendly suggestion 🩷

@Nicky Newman I appreciate that! I need to set aside a day and get it done x

Those articles are meant to raise awareness so we can choose better, not to make people feel guilty. You don't need to make elaborate dishes. Sliced fruit and plain cooked meet and vegetables are good enough. They just need to be soft.

Please can you share the link of the article of possible please. I give mainly home made food but we do use pouches for emergencies and going out. So would like to read about it

@Samina likewise here, I found it - https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/mar/15/ultra-processed-babies-are-toddler-snacks-one-of-the-great-food-scandals-of-our-time

This is a useful Reddit discussion on the general topic: https://www.reddit.com?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2
