If your child spills their food, whether its an accident or on purpose do you have them help you pick it up?

Mine wouldn't understand such, so I just do it. I notice he spills juice alot in living room carpet, so I blot it with Kicthen roll then wipe with a hot warm soapy cloth. Once week I use carpet spray cleaning stuff, removed residue leave to dry. I shampoo with machine once month

18 month - I ask her to, "please give to mama if you don't want to eat (she then picks it up & gives to me) and we don't waste food, my love".

I help him, but encourage him to clean his messes. My boy is 2 and he enjoys cleaning up, so that makes it easier too

Yes. Obviously my expectations of how helpful the help is changes with age (starting as early as possible so even at 12 months old), and if its safe for the dog to clean it up I let her, but even handing them a towel to pretend wipe while cleaning up is a step towards cleaning up after themselves.

Always! When they’re LITTLE little, they’re super effective, but they can certainly go through the actions and start to understand what they’re responsible for when they make a mess. Accidental or not, SOMEONE has to clean it up. Why wouldn’t it be them? (Or at least they can ‘pretend.’)

When my son makes a mess he always tells me “a mess” and then will either get a towel to clean or ask for help He is 2

Yeah! They help. They’re not great at it lol but we have them help and we make light of it. No ones in trouble for making a mess but we all work together to take care of it. Started that around 20 months or so.

Yep. He did it today and cried and got mad. He had to clean it up but I helped him. He’s 3. If my 1.5 year old did it then no she wouldn’t really be helping because it would be an accident

Yes but only if it’s easy stuff to clean up like a small spill of liquid or big crumbs etc. but I do it most of the time, I guess I feel food related stuff is my responsibility

Yes. Every time. The same with toys at the end of the day.

Not really. I clean it up. But he is very good at putting his toys away after playing with them while he sings our clean up song.

Yes I do. My son likes to help me do house chores or other things anyway
