Weaning

I’ve been weaning my son for around a month. (We listen we don’t judge pls) But he was born with two teeth. They are two solid bottle two teeth and now he’s eating I’m so nervous to give him finger food. I gave him a spring onion once to help his teething and he took a huge chunk and went to swallow it I had to fish it our his mouth. What do I do. I don’t know anyone with babies this small with teeth that are weaning 🫣

We’ve been weaning for the last 4 weeks too as baby was ready and he’s just about to turn 6 months, I don’t know about babies already having teeth however with BLW if a babe bites off a piece it’s my understanding you leave it and don’t try get it out as baby should naturally spit it out or gag and spit out they are more likely to choke if you try ‘help them’ it can be scary so I’m not in anyway judging ☺️ there’s some really helpful BLW groups on Facebook and the app solid starts it helpful too ☺️ x

My little one has just got his first tooth and we’ve been weaning for a month or so, we did start before 6 months as he was very interested in food and sitting alone. We’ve been using the puff type crisps that you can get from Ella’s kitchen. He seems to crunch them and they dissolve quite well in the mouth, we just make sure to watch him and offer water or some milk to help the puff dissolve easier if his mouth is getting dry

Its fine for them to bite food off! If they bite too big chunks they will gag and bring it back out (I know it can be scary but as long as you are observing and can hear them its fine - that helps them learn to take smaller bites) The important thing is making sure what you give them is appropriately prepared. Finger-sized sticks are recommended (so e.g. carrot batons are better than slices, grapes should be quartered etc) We started with soft things (banana, boiled carrot and broccoli) as I was anxious too!

My little one has had 2 teeth since 5 months so had her teeth before we started weaning! We just made sure everything we gave her was squishable between thumb and finger and gave her time! She bites off fairly big chunks which is nerve wracking but she does a great job with it now she's got the hang of it! We just made sure she was really ready to eat before we started :)

My first had 4 teeth before 6 months..it's absolutely fine 🙂
