How to Afford Child Care

I need advice on childcare. (Baby due sept.30th) I have a WFH however, it’s very demanded and I would not be to tend to the baby once my maternity leave is up (4 months). I also work a second job that I plan on keeping. After taxes and benefits, I make $3,600 a month. My bf works a fulltime office job but only gets paid $2700 a month. Looking at childcare in Austin, it’s $1900 a month for an infant and Nannie’s are $2,160 for 30 hours a week. Both his parents work fulltime and mine live 3 hours away. At this point, we are considering a church. For people who are in this income bracket, what did y’all do? How did you make it feasible without working so much that you forget you have a partner?

My husband and i make around the same around. Our 10.5m old is in a nice daycare and it’s $220 a week. We were using a babysitter for a while who is a SAHM and she charged $210. Look into your area groups on FB, SAHMs are cheaper than daycares and a nanny.

@Trinity oh thanks you so much for that! I will definitely look into that. What part of Texas do y’all live in?

We are in the west DFW area

@Trinity I been trying to find way to make money! I’m try this

@Gladys i highly recommend getting your infant and basic CPR first and first aid

I’m a medical assistant so I do have that already!

I live in Houston and yes it’s definitely expensive :/ I had a babysitter who charged $16 an hour and monthly it was becoming so expensive . We even started to cut her hours and still it was pricey. We found someone from our local mosque who babysits and charged way less an hour. Me and my husband also WFH but I just manage my time with my work it’s more like I have to choose what cases I do, send it out like referrals so I do it early on in the day so if I let the babysitter go a bit earlier it’s not so pricey if that makes sense
