I’ve worked at a place that did this. Shockingly it was a Montessori nursery! We did have some parents request that their children didn’t watch the TV, and some parents didn’t mind. I don’t think it’s a red flag (depending on age) however I don’t think it’s great.
Watching tv all day and doing nothing else? Red flag. Tv on for 10 mins at the end of the day for pickup time? Fine.
My daughters in preschool at a prep school and they are incredible, couldn’t fault what she’s learning and her day to day activities. The last 10 mins of the day when they are all sat on the carpet waiting for parents to come they watch some kind of TV. Usually educational things or the occasional episode of Bluey 😂 They are all tired after a long day, I don’t think it’s a red flag at all!
My kids school does TV while getting ready for pick up.
It’s 💯 no. I don’t pay an insane amount of money for my child to watch TV!
Lml my daughter watches tv at the end of the day before I put her to bed and like 40 minutes b4 her dad comes home so this wouldn’t bother me
At the end of the day as a bit of wind-down time sounds fine to me!
I would ask for clarification about the screen time for sure. Depends on the age of the children as well. If it’s for a specific purpose/a short time I wouldn’t necessarily think it’s a red flag as long as they’re not “hiding” it or anything. My son’s daycare will very occasionally do a movie - like a Christmas movie in December 1 time. And depending on their learning theme for the week they will very occasionally have a video to go with it. I know the week they learned about germs they watched a short video. He’s 3 though so we are ok with that amount and comfortable with the general level of engagement from the teachers throughout the day.
When it’s dirty, no security monitoring systems and caretakers look frustrated
Depends on what they’re watching. Coco melon, baby shark, and Ms. Rachel are a no for me.
We use a childminder and they have a tv on at the start and end of the day as the older ones are there before school. The little ones don’t pay it any attention and are too busy playing. Do you have the tv on at home for background? But if nothing else is being offered then it would be a no from me.
Our nursery (UK) doesn’t even have a tv. I wouldn’t want my child watching tv there as he gets enough screen time at home so when he’s at nursery I’m really happy he’s totally screen free x
I personally wouldn’t be happy paying somewhere to look after my child only to stick them in front of a screen
