Funded childcare hours
We have been fortunate enough that we have had family look after our son whilst we have been back to work but from September my husband cannot do condensed hours anymore so we are hoping to use a nursery for 2 days. When would I need to apply for the funding can this be whenever as my child is already 18 months? The website is very confusing! Thank you

My son is 18 months and has been using the funding since he was a year old. You have to reapply for funding every 3ish months. But your childcare setting will ask for your code to claim the funding and its usually on your registration form. Your code remains the same, so I would apply sooner rather than later and just renew it when required for September.

There's cut offs to apply for funding in relation to when they start, so I would apply asap as my understanding is if you apply by 31st march to get the funding from April. If you apply after 1st April your funding won't start until September as it's done in school terms. I could be wrong but this is what's happened when my son started at 12 months I had to apply early rather than when I needed it otherwise his funded hours wouldn't have started when I needed them in September
