Nursery

If you apply for the 15 hours, do you have to use them all or can you go for just 1 day.

I believe you can just do the 1 day and use the hours you need! Our nursery stretches the hours out so we only get 11.5 hours a week to cover the term times! X

No you can do one day if you want, it’s just 15 hours is the maximum

Have you already returned to work? Because if you have youll get 15 hours from the beginning of April. If not, you wont get funding until September and then its 30 hours. My understanding is that the nursery cant claim the hours and then you send them less than that, from what our nursery manager told us. But... I suppose you will pay the shortfall regardless for the 30 hours and then it would be up to you whether you send them each day theyre booked in for. Just as an example, my 3 year old currently gets the 30 hours funding and at our nursery they offer that as 3x10 hour days (term time only). We pay £117 a month shortfall for it. I send him all 3 of those days but I dont necessarily have to, yes hes booked in but its not compulsory if that makes sense? But if I was to pay per day its £74 a day, so to get 3 days a week for the full month for less than 2 full price days without funding, its a no brainer to just claim it anyway. Hope that made sense! X

You could also send them in for more than the 15/30 hours but obviously those additional days would be charged at full price and no discount applied through the funding x
