@Kalina most chemical sunscreens contain these: Oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and avobenzone (well at least mine does) and apparently these are not safe during pregnancy since they are directly affecting hormones and can be harmful for the baby. On top of that now I went in the deep dive and there is all this info on how our bodies store harmful ingredients in chemical sunscreens and that can long term have very bad effects including cancer and all that fun usual stuff. Safe to say mine is laying in trash now, but now I’m worried if I didn’t something to the baby
100% agree with @Kalina. The dose makes the poison. So much of the “clean” beauty trend just take chemicals on their own and have 0 knowledge and understanding of how to read scientific evidence, how chemicals work, how they blend together (because blending chemicals changes their composition also) and then the dose that you would need to make them harmful. I did I deep dive, the only study I found was done on mice, and they tested for a dose that would be the equivalent of a human slathering themselves head to toe in sunscreen daily for 84 years. Blogs and social media are opinions made to look like facts. They cherry pick bits of data to back up their argument (as Kalina said, to usually sell you something) and fear based content gets the most view and most money. Sunscreen is safe. You’ll be fine to use it.

Agree with everything said above, I’ve worked in the skincare industry for over 12years and chemical sunscreen is 100% safe for pregnancy. You and baby will be absolutely fine 🥰
Thank you everyone this helps a lot 🩷🩷
I asked pharmacist in the past and they said any suncream is totally fine ❤️
Oh no, don’t worry, chemical sunscreens are absolutely safe! Where did you read that they aren’t? If it’s yuka or something like that it’s not trustworthy, they don’t provide any scientific evidence, it’s a scam. Most of the information that spreads misinformation that these products are unsafe comes from companies who try to sell their products by pretending like theirs are the better choice.
