Anyone give their babies oatmeal in their bottles?

I know I’m not supposed to start solids till 6 months. LO is 5 months and I’m considering putting some baby oatmeal in the bottle maybe in a few weeks idk. I’m very drained, the eating every 45 minutes, the pumping not stop. Just all of it, hoping it will keep him full a little longer because I am running out of energy and I don’t have any help. Anywho. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations. I’m thinking of the Kendamil oatmeal? Thoughts?

Hey! My baby has been taking oatmeal cereal in his bottle since 1.5 months for reflux it’s definitely safe ❤️ he prefers the thickened milk now and won’t take weak milk. It adds extra calories :) The ratio is 1teaspoon of oat cereal per ounce of milk or formula. I use Gerber baby oat cereal 1st solids. I saw the Kendamil oatmeal in the store today and it has added dairy so that’s something to keep in mind. The gerber is purely oat.

Personally I stay away from it! I recently learned that it can be harmful to serve it to babies especially under 1 year. Their digestive systems are still very immature and I just avoid giving them oats or wheat. As they get older it can lead to digestive issues. I love the @wildnutritionist account to learn more!! I’ve learned a ton about solids and healthy foods to give my baby there.

I’m sorry you’re feeling drained, but that is a choking hazard, so please don’t add anything to your baby’s bottle. I would recommend speaking to your pediatrician about feeding. You can definitely ask when they recommend starting solids! And then I would check out @solidstarts and @101beforeone on instagram.

I agree with @Marlana

@Bree do you need a special bigger nipple for this ?

It’s a choking risk and there’s no need to give anything other than formula or breast milk until at least 6 months
