Starting solids

Mamas please help! I’m so lost 😭 my baby boy is now 6 months old so I’m trying to feed him stuff besides his formula now and I’ve tried mashed bananas, baby cereal, I made apple sauce, and I tried the Gerber sweet potato. At 1st he LOVED the mashed bananas and baby cereal (probably ate them for like 3 or 2 days) and then he just stopped being exited and gagged with the banana and he doesn’t reallyyyy want any of the soft foods anymore :(

i buy at target the packets of purées let my son settle in the flavor and then if he likes it then i just use the same one for a week. it’s possible the banana doesn’t taste the same the first few times but my son gagged at smashed bananas so it might be the texture they’re not used too

Gagging is also part of them learning how to eat solids! You can do green beans, spinach, peaches, peas, spinach- either puree your own or find in store. I would just keep trying it, mama! It's new and he's learning.

We did BLW with a twist of purees. I will cut avocados or bananas, cook sweet potato in spears but also puree some of each so he can feel the texture of it in his hands and also taste it. We HATED eggs though so much 😅

I would recommend the solid starts app (free version is totally fine) - basically you can use it as a food database which tells you the safest way to serve various foods to baby. Their website also has a lot of good info about how babies eat, FAQ and other troubleshooting

Thank yall! 💗💗💗
