North tees vs james cook

I think this has been asked before but I just want to know people's experiences on giving birth at north tees and james cook. I had my little boy at north tees 2.5 years ago now and had an AWFUL experience. So I've opted for james cook this time but I've since read bad things about james cook 😂 so have i made the wrong decision?

I had my baby on the 4th at North tees hospital and had a great experience x

I’ve just gave birth at James cook and it was such a positive experience. My midwives were lovely!!xxx

Ah don’t! I’m having my baby at north tees in September! Why was yours an awful experience? Xx

I gave birth at James cook last Saturday, the midwives were absolutely amazing we had the best experience ever, the postnatal ward I can’t say the same for had numerous issues on there however the birth itself and prior was perfect x

I think it purely depends on the midwives, I had both my boys at James cook, first time round it was awful and I ended up in therapy. Second time round I could not sing my midwives praises enough the experience was soo much nicer ans smoother

I had my son at James cook in September 2023 and the experience was so awful where I was treated wrongly by one midwife in particular (others were lovely though) x

I had my little girl in James Cook in January, and the staff were amazing from start to finish. We had a traumatic labour but the midwives were amazing with both me and my partner xx

North tees is my closest but I actually opted for Gateshead based on CQC and people's experiences and my care was amazing. However, 40 mins in the car at 9cm dilated was not great.... 🤣

@Nic they gave me diamorphine close to his birth and didn't use the reversal, so he was born not breathing and it took 57 minutes to get him breathing on his own. Then they only needed to use one stitch on me down there but the midwife decided to "tidy me up" due to previous sexual trauma I had a bit of loose skin, she did this whilst i was not in any state to consent as I was watching my non breathing baby be revived since then I was unable to have sex for 18 months due to tearing and bleeding and I still tear and bleed if any pressure is there so certain positions are a no. I haven't dared have a smear test because of it too. And I'm obviously now scared to give birth again. Obviously this isn't the case for all births and it's just my experience xx

@Maria oh wow! I would have been okay for my sons birth, I was 4cm for 2 days!!! 😂 x

@Eden oh my god that’s awful 😞 I hope you’re okay now. Ngl scared a bit now! Xx

@Nic aw no don't be!!! You'll be absolutely fine. I think i was just unlucky with the midwife. The one I had before her was amazing and I can't fault her. All ill say is if they give you diamorphine close to you pushing demand a reversal (i didn't even know it was a thing prior) And if they offer to tidy you up, say no. Don't be scared. Giving birth is a wonderful experience and I wouldn't be doing it again if I didn't think so, embrace it and remember to breathe xxx

I haven’t given birth yet but I transferred from Hartlepool/North tees to James Cook and even the triage and general appointment are so better ran and the midwives at JC are amazing! X

i gave birth in north tees in january and the actual labour experience was fine enough, i was moved onto the postnatal ward at about 1pm and my treatment there was shocking until the shift change where it got loads better! definitely depends on the midwives, unfortunately

I loved north tees, despite my labour not going the way I wanted, all but 3 of the staff were amazing and just what I needed, baring in mind I must have seen like 40 staff or more x
