42 and thinking of doing it again…

I had my May 2022 baby at 39 and now thinking of having another. Thing is I’m 42 yrs old. My now ex-husband and I really don’t want our daughter growing up an only child. Also, with us being older we don’t want her alone in her mid-adulthood when we pass. But again, I’m 42. My first pregame was considered high-risk at 39 years but was pretty easy I must say. I only did the epidural at the last minute. I became pre-diabetic and BP started to rise in the last 2 weeks but everything was managed appropriately and went away after birth. Are there any older moms who have or are also considering doing this again? Any word(s) of advice or tips having another this late?

Just had a baby at 42 and a half years old. I didn’t want my daughter to possibly be by herself growing up. He is very healthy and doing well. I have chronic illness, but everything still went fine. Had my first one at 39 as well. Both pregnancies went well thankfully. I say give it a shot. I’m on a fb group of moms over 40, and there are a lot that have successful pregnancies over 42 years of age whether high risk or not. Good luck! 🙂

the most challenging part at this age is conceiving unless you preserved your fertility in the past. I did an IVF round at 41 and out of 11 collected eggs none of the embryos were viable due to poor quality at this age. Good luck if you’d decide to do it. https://extendfertility.com/your-fertility/fertility-statistics-by-age/

@Carrie thanks! And congrats on your new baby! I think I’m in a 40+ moms FB group as well! Completely forgot about that. Thanks!

@Sofie you are correct. My daughter is almost out of her terrible twos. (I don’t want to do this part over again!) One id my fears if just that. Trying to handle my mental in the early years. I hope the sacrifice now will pay off.

@Mia I pray if you still want one it’ll happen for you. I had both of us checked before our first. I have PCOS but the timing actually worked out for me the first time. I know that’s a possibility this time as well. I understand it may take some time but just concerned about opening the doors for the possibility. If it doesn’t happen after a certain period of time we may go ahead and proceed with a vasectomy.

My doula had her second at 41 and it was a very healthy and uncomplicated pregnancy. ☺️ she was super intentional about her diet, exercise, supplementation, and overall self care during that pregnancy so overall I think she’d describe that pregnancy as being even healthier than her first, which she was 37/38 during that pregnancy.
