first appointment with new provider

i switched providers for my fourth baby and i’m already stressing hard. i was hospitalized on the 12th for hypermesis and a panic attack brought on by the episode. my potassium tanked, and i shriveled up. it scared me beyond belief and im not ashamed of that, ive never been so ill i couldn’t control simple things like my hands and feet. my bp was high at the hospital(obvi), and even after i was calmed, medicated, and hydrated, my diastolic didn’t dip below 90. ER doc said no cause for concern yet. i monitor myself because ive had preeclampsia in my first pregnancy, and my diastolic is always in the high 80s. systolic within normal range, which i find odd. well today i went and they checked it three times, it never came below 126/96: that was the final reading and that’s what was charted. but no one said a word about it, i even showed my nurse my app connected to my cuff so she could compare. she said she would mention it to the dr i was seeing but he didn’t mention it at all. when he asked about my concerns i asked if the pain i feel in the top middle most part of my stomach could be associated with the HG and he said possibly. that’s all. but now im starting to worry. i dont drink caffeine, i dont smoke weed now, i dont vape, and i dont eat terribly. actually here lately im barely eating at all. has anyone been tested/diagnosed before the 20 week mark? is it possible? the last time i had it my provider just told me i was a fatty over indulging in carbs(i wasn’t i was 19 and terrified to not be thin anymore) and only diagnosed me as she was scheduling my induction due to complications at 37 weeks. i don’t want to do that again. i wouldn’t stop bleeding, and i was on a magnesium drip immediately following delivery. i’m just looking to see if anyone has experienced the same or close and did it resolve? please help. i’m stressed.

Huge hugs Ali! I had post partum pre-eclampsia and know how quickly things can go. Do they have numbers they want you to come in for (systolic/diastolic)? This would be important to establish with your provider, as well as asking about having your urine checked (protein) and being carefully monitored. This may mean you advocating like hell for yourself and LO. I’m apart of this group that is science backed and evidenced based for preeclampsia survivors and they have a VAST amount of resources: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/18XDr6sfJn/?mibextid=wwXIfr Preeclampsia, Eclampsia & HELLP Syndrome Survivors Global Support Network on Facebook. Ask these questions you asked here and a moderator that’s well versed can help you further. Statistically when we’ve had pre-eclampsia in a prior pregnancy, if it presents again it is usually later and less severe if that gives you some peace of mind. Majorly advocate momma and get questions for each visit.

Also pre-eclampsia is a disorder of the placenta, not anything to do with diet.

@Schannon this provider didn’t mention it to me at all as if he honestly didn’t know or didn’t care. that’s what i was thinking i may have to do as well, this office helped me previously with some sudden unexplained heavy bleeding, that no other provider would help me resolve. that’s really my only reason for choosing them, but this dr is not the one i saw before. for my next appointment i think ill be requesting to see the one i saw for the bleeding. my previous provider would’ve sent me today for 5hr monitoring and i know that as fact because they’ve done it twice before. thank you for this link because i often get flack from nurses and physicians regarding preeclampsia like im ignorant or uneducated when ive experienced it first hand.

@Alli You are so welcome! Keep your chin up momma, you’re doing the right things 🫂
