No, you're not overreacting. I see it happen in lots of cis-hetero relationships where moms express that the father's side always says baby looks like his side. In her family's defense, they don't know what you looked like as a baby/child and if you got a donor with similar features as your wife it might be easier to catch their similarities than yours right now. I feel your frustration. When I'm out at the park I'm often mistaken as our baby's nanny and my wife is assumed to be the birthparent 🤣😭❤️
I think people like to tell the non-bio parents that. I heard it a lot too, but our daughter looks just like my wife’s paternal grandfather. Your baby probably looks more like you, but people are emphasizing their similarities to show love and family bonding.
I mean if the baby is little give them time to grow into their features a bit… give it time…
