My son is in a food strike stage as well as I’m trying to set boundaries so he will listen to me better like he does my partner and other family members. He ate a full bowl of oatmeal this morning and asked for more I also gave him a banana and asked him to take a few bites and he wouldn’t he refused I didn’t force him just asked him a few times to take a bite before getting more oatmeal. In the end I he didn’t eat the banana and I gave more oatmeal. I figured him eating something is better than what he eats right now because he hardly ate supper last night. Should I stay firm in my boundaries and if he’s hungry he will eat what he’s given or should I let him eat what he wants and keep offering other foods. I will never force him to eat but encourage it. I just want to make sure he is eating relatively well, I usually make eggs for breakfast but he has been refusing to eat them so I’m trying to switch it up we did cereal one morning and oatmeal with fruit but he just seems to not be eating the fruit or eggs.. my next thing to try are banana pancakes. Any advice

I offer a safe food, a new food, and a food he has eaten before, but it's not his fave. Last night he had broccoli, hummus, and lasagna. Oatmeal is a fine breakfast! Maybe he just wanted a different fruit? Mine goes through fruit cycles. Mandarins, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries. He didn't like banana for a long time until I made ice cream with it. 😂

@Cara he seems to be on a fruit strike too he won’t eat raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, mandarins and then bananas, apples and pears are hit or miss and he will not touch a vegetable

I follow the “division of responsibility” as parents we provide the the timing of the meal and the options and like Cara said always provide a food you know he’ll eat (safe food) and he’s responsible for what he eats and how much! So more oatmeal is fine and if he doesn’t want banana that day fine. He’ll only want bananas in two weeks 😂
