My nine year old daughter still hasn’t lost any teeth yet.

She will turn 10 soon and has not lost a single tooth. Dentist said not to worry and just wait until they come out but everyone in her class has lost a tooth and she has lost 0. My husband and I are worried because none of her teeth are loose. Last week she had a dentist appointment for a cleaning and the dentist said she still doesn’t have any loose teeth and that while it’s uncommon, it happens. He said to just wait a little longer and they should become loose. Wait a little longer? She’ll be 10 soon. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? We’ve tried to get her to eat hard foods and apples but nothing is working her teeth won’t come out. She was also very quick to get her teeth as a baby so I’m not sure why they aren’t budging. Dentist said her baby teeth have long roots and haven’t dissolved yet and if they just don’t come out, she’ll have to go under anesthesia to have them removed. My oldest son lost his first tooth at 5 and my youngest daughter has just lost her first tooth. So this doesn’t run in the family.

My niece lost her first tooth at 8 we were concerned as well but it did come out on its own like normal

My friend never lost her baby teeth she's 35 and still has them but she doesn't have any adult teeth underneath! Has you daughter had an xray?

Was she slower to get her teeth in in the first place? Often kids whose teeth come in later lose them later. We are in a similar boat.

My dental age was super low and I feel like it was around 10 that I lost my first tooth. Once they became loose I had to have a few pulled to get things moving and also had 2 that were fused to the bone and needed to be surgically removed. That wasn’t until I was 14 though so she’ll likely have a bit of time before they move forward with surgery. The only real problem I encountered with it was getting an implant in one of the places I had a tooth removed. Most people would get it at 18-21 I had to wait until I was almost 24

I would get an xray. She may not have any adult teeth underneath.

@Paris🌉 that’s wonderful. I hope my daughter looses her teeth soon so we can stop worrying

@Alana oh my goodness! I’m have never heard of that before. My daughter has had an X-Ray and she has all her adult teeth under her baby teeth but she isn’t loosing anything

@Jessica she has teeth underneath but her baby teeth roots are super long

@Tessa oh my. So sorry you had to go through that. I hope that’s not the case for my daughter. I don’t want her to have to constantly get her teeth pulled or have surgery.

@Sara no actually she wasn’t. She got all her teeth right on time and yet they refuse to fall out. She has long roots on her baby teeth and they won’t dissolve
