Opinion on floor option.

Hey there my fiancé and I are moving soon to our in laws and living in the basement and for our living room it’s concrete and we are trying to decide what to do on top. We have 2 Siberian huskies and a puppy. Our kids are 1.5 and 2.5 years old. I want to do a laminate type flooring with an area rug. Because it’ll be easier to clean and my fiancé wants carpet. We currently have carpet and the dogs have had accidents on it. The kids have spilled stuff on it and I’m like In the long wrong an area rug can be cleaned easier then carpet.
