Baby doesn’t want solids - help!

My baby is nearly 7 months and she won’t eat solids. Won’t open her mouth. We have been trying various foods for one month. We may force a tiny spoon on a very lucky day, that’s it. Help! What to do?! She acts hungry and demands more and more milk

Sorry I can’t help but I got the same problem! It’s very frustrating

Same here! My son couldn’t give a toss, loves cucumber cos it’s cold on his gums and that’s it! No advice I just keep trying and not putting pressure on him they’ll all get there!

Oh I am not the only one! Never had this problem with my first so very lost. Will keep experimenting then!

Can kind of relate because my babies open their mouths but aren’t really interested. We’re going to try sitting around the table with them more while we eat to model the behavior and maybe trigger some excitement

Can I ask what routine you have and what materials you use for bowl and spoons? As it may be relevant ie I was advised not to use silicone bowls and bibs as they pick up smells that may be off putting for example. Also the type of spoon may make it difficult for some babies. A paediatric nurse even advised about high chair being supportive enough etc ie feet should be supported so they don’t slouch. Little things like that could affect a baby. Not sure if that helps? Good luck x

Have you tried eating the food off their plate without trying to give it to them and be like really overly excited and do really obvious chewing gestures but don't keep trying to feed them necessarily - when they want it they'll try and grab the spoon or put their hands in the food. But maybe just take the pressure off put them in the highchair with food in front and you eat something yourselves as well and just let them watch you and then take stuff off their plate and eat it really over exaggerating. That helped mine. It was like if he knows I want him to eat it he refuses but if I pretend I'm not that bothered he gets more interested 🤣 x

We’re in the same boat - all food gets raspberried off his lips alongside looks of disgust, shudders and cries but put him on my lap and he won’t stop trying to grab my plate

@Rosie thisssss!! My kid is obsessed with any drink I have like I’m not about to give you Dr Pepper shut up and eat your broccoli man 🥴

Rather than spoon feeding, just leave bits of finger food on their highchair try. First they’ll play with it but eventually they’ll learn to eat it
