How are we all getting on with BLW?

Or are some of you still doing purree's? Are your babies enjoying different foods and textures. Any choking scares? Leave comments

My girl is a May baby so slightly older, but we've done BLW since she was 6 months old, and she eats a variety of things now, she barely let's me spoon feed her anything! She does occasionally gag, never chokes though! I'm trying to introduce 2 new foods a week, rather than sticking to the same things

My little girl is 9 months and we did some purées for the first week then went straight to BLW which she seems to love! I do always serve one mashed item on her plates though for lunch and dinner so she’s getting a range of textures! But so far there’s not been anything she won’t try!

I’ve done BLW since she started at 6 months. She absolutely LOVES food and eats everything & anything. I’m very lucky. It has been super easy for me. She is a fantastic eater & we’ve had no scares. But I make sure I prepare & serve exactly how it should be. I couldn’t have imagined doing purées but I completely understand why people do 😊

I’ve always done a combination, doing purées mainly for practical reasons: being on the go, under time pressure etc etc. plus my baby isn’t really interested in milk anymore so I’m trying to make sure he gets enough nutrients and good amounts of food. We’ve also done BLW since he’s been 6 months though and he learned quickly how to handle pieces that are too big - he gags and spits them out straight away! Was a bit unnerving at first but those little people are clever :) he’s never choked! Super happy to see that he loves to chew stuff, even without teeth.

We do both until now . I keep a few purées in case if I have to run out the door and use them as sauce for grains and pasta.

Hey Mamas I do a combination although mainly mashed, some purees such as fruit and porridge for breakfast. I really wish BLW was going well for us but I feel like my anxiety is holding him back. He likes to eat pastas, any type of omelette or fritters but when it comes to the more solid foods we struggle slightly. There have been a few times where he would fill his mouth then panic and start crying and then I panic because he's got a mouthful of food and crying at the same time and all I imagine in that moment is that he'll inhale some food mid cry and choke. I don't enjoy it sometimes and it does upset me but I know it's something we need to work on. I can see he absolutely loves his food. Any help or tips welcomed xx

I’ve always done both
