We’ve been taking him since 6m, he goes every 3 months they just brush his teeth with fluoride and chart what teeth he has. They don’t do much till 3yr. My son loves the dentist cause they give him a balloon every visit 🤣
I read to start taking either at a year old or 6 months after first tooth. Well, we didn't get teeth until 9 months so our first visit last October. They laid her back, opened her mouth, looked around, ask me questions, asked if I had any questions, and went on our merry way 🤷♀️ she didn't try to bite or anything which is a big change from when we put our fingers in her mouth 😂 our next appointment is April and we'll see how it goes!
@Elizabeth 😅😅 that's a good addition the ballon!!
@Amber 🤣 well they're probably used to bitting
Thank you for your comment. i guess I will take him just to make sure, but I'm not rushing since it doesn't look like they will do much
My cousin works in the dental field and she has told me to wait till 3 years old so we are going to take our oldest who is turning 3 in april soon! You can usually get fluoride put on at your pediatrician thats what we do!
@Beca they told me it was more for them to get used to it and in the habit.
@Amber that make sense
@Jalyn it does look like there's not much going on before 3 😅
I haven’t taken my June baby yet but I took my older one when she almost 3 when she had all her baby teeth. All they did was sit her in the chair and look in her mouth. No brushing or cleaning. Just to get her used to being there.
Taking my 21 month old next week and I’m expecting a shit show lol my son is not a big fan of getting his teeth brushed and in general is suspicious of doctors 😂 we’ll see.
Took both of my kids staying around 1 year old. They do free baby wellness checks for under 3 year olds (check the teeth, make notes, talk over brushing and fluoride habits). After 3, they start doing cleanings, and my oldest will have his first cleaning in July.
@Beca before three it's mainly to watch development of the teeth, get them used to going , and help answer questions you might have about oral care and related He had his first visit in July of last year. He just had his second one a few weeks ago. He clung to me, but they did count the teeth in his mouth, look them over, and mentioned that dental work might be needed eventually, but that's a future problem.... I answered about his brushing habits... He got a toddler toothbrush.. and a toy
Ayden is a bit weird though and likes brushing his teeth actually 🤣🤣🤣

Yep. They just did a quick check and a feel of the gums . Check everything is clean and healthy . At this point it's more to get them used to people looking in their mouth as they shouldn't have any dental issues so young (hopefully) . My little one has had 3 now just routine 6 monthly and it's been no longer than a few minutes. She does get upset but our dentist is great with her
been going every 3 mo since about 12m. same experience like going to doc, hold baby while thwy are examed (and teeth brushed). she fights at home 2x a day for each brush and is less fussy at the dentist.
I just took her last week. They did a quick exam and brush. They don’t start giving a full cleaning until 3yo with X-rays
