Baby weaning

Can people show me/tell me their portion sizes for their little ones please? I’m struggling to find the right balance for the amount of food! My girl is 7 months and is like a hungry hippo 😂 I’m doing puree/ a little bit of baby weaning. For example, an Ella’s pouch, should they have the whole thing in one sitting or not? As my girl will eat it all, then maybe some finger food and then some cottage cheese and some broccoli and then fruit 😂 She just seems that she would keep eating and then doesn’t want any milk. (This is especially at dinner time) Any advice for portion control? Or should I just let her be?

I was always told baby will only eat what they can handle, so if that’s what she’s asking for, just follow her lead. My wee one we’re doing baby led & she’ll have maybe half a sausage, couple of table spoons of mash & a selection of veggies. She’d also eat a lot of cucumber if I let her😂

I’ve been doing finger foods mostly for breakfast and lunch and pouches for dinner - I only do half a pouch as it just seems like a lot and want to avoid constipation, but I do think she would eat a whole one! She had almond milk porridge for breakfast today and is currently sitting down to a big chunk of cucumber and like a fourth of a pitta. She has a toddler brother who snacks constantly so I’ve also been giving her like rice cakes or melty puffs periodically

If she is refusing milk then you need to reduce portions, baby needs a minimum of 600ml a day at this age. If she is having at least that then she can have as much food as she wants. They are intuitive eaters so will stop once full

My first would eat an entire bowl plus yogurt and fruit for pudding plus a snack later on at 7 months and drink all her milk. My youngest who is an august baby eats half a pouch and is quite contented all babies have different appetites x

I let my LO lead often she will do a pouch/jar baby food and have a good go at what her older siblings or I are having as finger food plus fruit or plain yogurt for pudding. Most of the time she wants it but not always, I try and make sure it isn’t too close to bedtime so she will still have milk before bed. x

My LG is 8 months now. She went through a phase where she was eating loooads (mashed foods) and was not interested in milk. Now she's more BLW/finger mushy foods as she's a bit older and she's gone back to having more milk through the day. She would eat a whole pouch too and I just thought it was too much food and not enough milk. So reducing her portions worked for us but obviously every baby different!

My lo has 20grams of porridge to 60ml of milk in the morning. A whole slice of toast with mashed banana, avocado, peanut butter on it etc. dinner he has a more basic version of what I have for example, 3 teaspoons mash, half a fillet of fish, 2 pieces of broccoli. He eats it all🙈 In regards to the milk, offer it first before any meals and then solids after about an hour x
