There’s nothing that will heal it. Panadol for pain, cold washers, frozen breastmilk washers for baby to suck on. It will just heal on its own.

Fair warning.., it's been the worst for our kid of all the germs 🙃 Try and keep the blisters dry, so like pat dry their mouth if they'll let you because they will crust over quicker and we used calamine lotion to help with the itching when they are scabs. It sheds in their poo, so will likely have diarrhoea so extra fluids.

Highly contagious so do not allow little one to go near other children or to touch toys without washing them, just give panadol/nurofen for the pain & keep fluids up & give soft foods, as bub will probably have a sore mouth while blisters are present.

HFM is TOUGH, not for the weak!! When my bubs got it from child care I put my mattress in the loungeroom, kept on top of panadol, put EVERYTHING I would need in the lounge and just cuddled and watched movies for I kid you not, like a week. Teething gel helps for the mouth blisters and Panadol for all the others.

It could be worse. Mum of 3 here 🙈😜 HFM is bad but it's not life-threatening so please just know almost all children will get it and there's not much you can do to help your child other than the usual extra TLC and pain relief when baby or toddler needs it. Keep an eye on baby/toddler's intake of liquids as dehydration is the biggest risk with HFM. Unfortunately, particularly if your child goes to childcare, it's not a matter of if but when the child will catch it. I hope your child recovers quickly. While HFM would be in my top 5 of most annoying things we've caught, our worst would have to be gastro and our toddler catching RSV and Adenovirus simultaneously, where we were close to needing hospital admission.

It’s the hardest sickness we’ve had when my boy was like 10m. Prioritise hydration, worry less about food intake and more about drinking. Stock up on Yoghurt for food, hydralyte ice blocks. Panadol and neurophen for pain. Keep an eye on wet nappies if you suspect dehydration go to the local urgent care centre or ER. My boy went to hospital for dehydration, that’s not as common but it can happy quickly. Sickness lasts about a week :/ good luck! It’ll be okay

All the love mama to you and LO. My baby had when he was around 14 months is quite painful for them for the first 2-3 nights. One of the nurses told us to give neurofen over Panadol not sure why but it helped with pain for him xxx

@Ag I think it's because Nurofen (Ibuprofen) reduces inflammation in addition to relieving pain. We've always had much better results with Nurofen when our kids were teething or having HFM. Panadol didn't work as well for us.

Keep in mind, curtain acidic foods can irritate the mouth, sauces and such

Lots of TLC, pain killers and try and prioritise hydration if they aren’t eating.

Both my eldest 2 children had it around 18mth mark.. and I took them to the drs and was prescribed an ointment to put on the sores and it helped dry them out and cleared up pretty fast. My son got it when my daughter was only 4wks old which was quite stressful lol.
