@Rhian hi I'm going through this at the moment I have a 14 year old autistic son so spotted some signs around 12m with my youngest son who is 2 next week. I got in touch with my health visitor & she arranged a visit & agreed with my concerns & put referrals through for different things I'm still awaiting most the 1st thing that's happened is we have a portage worker who comes every 2 weeks and does 1 on 1 play with Chester which he loves. Everything else unfortunately is a waiting game x
If you have suspicions make a diary and gather evidence, some things can be normal developmental things. Usually a diagnosis won't be made u til 5at the earliest unless it is really obvious, is he in any day care setting, have you spoken to them about concerns as they can make the necessary referrals, but definitely speak to your GP if you're worried, Alternatively look on your local council website for parent/family hub as there will be support groups you can go to. Or alternatively you could refer yourself to the early help services and they will also be able to support you and your child to make sure they have the correct support in place when he does start his full time mandatory education.
