Is Blacktown as bad as it is made out to be?

Looking at affordable suburbs in Sydney to raise my family and Blacktown keeps coming up. I've only heard negatives so want to know if they're valid or untrue. I'm not bias or implying anything at all! Just curious 🤔

Have been living in blacktown for the past 5 years. It is just great, but not sure about the schools though.

We’re nearby in Kellyville Ridge which has been really nice (we’re new here)! Feels very safe, family oriented and easy.

Blacktown is fine, just pick the street/area carefully, Near the zoo is a great

Can you go for a daytrip there and get a feel for the area to see if you can see yourself living there? There is lots happening there, I don't know the area well at all but I was just there on Monday for the day, they have great medical centres, butcher's, the worker's Club was great for a meal, lots of things for little one's to do but idk much about schools, crime or if house prices are different there🤷‍♀️ maybe check realestate.com for advice on individual suburbs? 😊

We’ve bought in the area and it’s been fine so far. I’d probs recommend surrounding suburbs like Seven Hills, Kings Langley, Baulkham, or Kellyville. Better school catchments

I’ve lived there my whole life (and bought in Woodcroft- a suburb over) it has been cleaned up in the past 10-15 years

Id love to know as well for the future when we decide to buy! With 2 little ones ✨️

I used to live in Kellyville not too far, personally I wouldn’t consider there but my friend grew up there and loved living there she just knew certain areas to avoid
