Food aggression?

My 1yr old boy is having major food obsession, idk if it’s appropriate to call it aggression or anxiety or what to call it. But anytime I have a snack or food or even a drink in front of me he is immediately ALLL over it, trying to climb up to get it, once he realizes he isn’t getting any or I tell him no then he will start screaming crying, sometimes even hitting just throwing a tantrum. Or if he has finished his food for breakfast lunch & dinner he starts screaming crying. And I know there is no way possible that he is still hungry because he will eat a lot. I already give him portions that I think maybe a little bit too much for him but he always finishes & throws a fit when he’s done. Does anyone else experience this? My mom says she’s never had this problem with me or my brother when we were babies so she thinks it’s not normal. ALSO I would like to add that as a mom it is extremely hard for me to say no when he wants my food & I usually give in & end up giving him some off my plate, but I think it’s also important to set some type of boundaries so he doesn’t always expect to eat off my plate or other peoples. & he will always have snacks throughout the day between meals too.

Giving in and letting him eat from your plate is likely contributing to the behavior, because he gets a reward when he throws a fit. I would say setting boundaries and not letting him do it is the solution. If you feel alright about it, try having a few snacks on hand during the day, between mealtimes - I do this for my 16 month old, she stands in her toddler tower and snacks on fruit, just a few bites at a time, but it keeps her happy.

If he’s crying when his food is done, maybe he really is still hungry? Maybe his issue isn’t behavioral and maybe his issue is that he has a hard time getting full? I’m not a professional so whatever I say doesn’t carry much weight but why would a child eat more than they can handle? They don’t really have a relationship with food yet…or maybe he needs to drink more?

My 11 month old is like this with food, I wouldn’t say it’s a bad thing it’s more developmental I think at this age. You may have to try your best not to feed off your plate for at least a little bit
