Weaning

I have no idea if weaning is going “well” or not 🤷‍♀️😂 We’ve done 3 weeks but wow what a mess my lg makes 😳 she doesn’t really hold and eat anything herself, she holds it and waves it around and licks it but doesn’t actually really “eat” any. Except banana it always ends up on the floor so I don’t understand how to people do purely BLW? 😂 She opens mouth for spoon, tries to hold the spoon and feed herself unsuccessfully but she gets all her food all over her face, clothes, floor, everything it’s hard to tell how much she’s actually ingesting. I seen a friend with a baby similar age feeding them with a spoon and it all went in the mouth neatly and swallowed and away never seen again😳🤣 how?! My mum was like maybe her baby was younger and not really trying to learn themselves how to eat yet & It’s actually a good thing as she’s showing a lot of signs of trying to do it all herself but I have no idea. It’s so hard to know if ur doing it right or what…like how much is enough vs too much. I started giving her milk & food separate then my husband was like no give her food with her milk so that’s like her “drink” because she has a water cup and she really tries but only gets a wee mouthful of that per meal so it’s always nice to have a drink with a meal 🫨🤯

I feel this in my soul 😂 I've worried about if I'm doing it right ever since I started weaning also 3 weeks ago but I've decided I'm just going to listen to my baby and that's that. If he wants to be spoon fed, great. If he wants to feed himself, great. If he wants to eat it all, great. If he doesn't want any, great. If he makes a mess and has fun, great. If it's tidy, great - though this has never happened to me either! They know what they want so I'm just there to provide food and make it accessible and fun! What I will say though is the advice is that food before 1 is fun, so regardless of how much they eat I was told to aim for food about an hour after a milk feed so milk is their main source of nutrition. Again though, this isn't always doable or we'd never leave the house even on 1 meal a day.

I’m doing blw. Yes at first she was wasting my food cause she’d just play in it but now she is trying to feed herself. Most of it do end up on the floor or in her chair and she only gets bits and pieces but u have to understand that they are still new to this so they aren’t gonna be experts. Video of her trying to eat chicken. Took a few weeks to accomplish this btw

Yesterday she ate purées and it went so well. She actually ate all of it

But I also started at 4 months so she’s had time to adjust and learn

Also with the last part I do solids and water then bath then shower. They don’t actually eat anything so the still drinks all her milk
