I make my baby a mini version of what we eat! Usually without added salt/sugar but I still use some seasonings! If you wanna start off with some easy things. I blend oats into a flour, add a mashed banana and bake for 15 mins, easy banana flapjack for them to munch! You can use this method with other mashed fruits or veggies too. Also just steamed veg is good! And if your baby has teeth it will be easier if not I’d stick to things that mush int he mouth better for them! I’ve got a freezer full of batch made stuff now, just experiment with recipes x
Give whatever you eat, makes it so much easier. You can also get a free weaning pack from Ella's kitchen which includes some recipes and a chart of food and a recipe book (boots parenting club)
It doesn’t matter if your baby has teeth or not. My girl is nearly 8 months she has no teeth and she eats steak, chicken, anything that I’m eating she’s eating. I don’t add salt to anything I don’t like it. Just don’t panic when they gag unless he goes blue don’t worry. Nursery might be a way for him to try things so just give them the go ahead to do it.
When we started solids we did a mix of purees and BLW. Any veggies that could be mashed or blended we helped feed her. Then just big sticks of boiled/steamed veggies and meats she sucked on. Iron is really important when they start solids, so one of her first foods was a steak stick she sucked all the juice out of. You can feed them anything you eat in an age appropriate way. I used the app simple steps for ideas on how to serve her new foods. I just used the free version too, you don't have to pay
First thing first I would say try not to worry to much or put pressure on yourself, I beat myself up so much as my little one took a while to get used to eating but one day it just clicked. I hated weaning personally, I would constantly make food etc that just ended up on floor and feel defeated! Thought I’d never get her off milk but she did quite quickly all of sudden! Mine really likes little pots of custard, mince, pin wheels (pastry with fillings very easy to make you can put in fridge, I do her banana ones for breakfast), chicken with veg in the oven. Probably an unpopular opinion but she also loves potato stars, fish fingers, waffles, mini kievs anything that goes in the oven! I try to cook well for her but sometimes I just need to get some food in her, she’s a good weight and doing really well. The fruit pouches are really good but I try to only allow one a day! Oh and bananas, grapes and apples she loves. BUT it took giving it to her again and again then one day she…
Finally ate them! She also went through a period where she only ate puffs so don’t worry! My little one didn’t click with food until around 10/11 months. I felt so far behind but she eats really well now and loves her food! It will click I promise don’t beat yourself up!l like other people I’ll make mince for our dinner and just save her a little bit for next day (we have dinner later after she’s gone to bed). Xxx
Oh and make sure she’s ready for any foods you give her, like grapes being cut properly etc so she doesn’t choke! I was always really worried about that and used the solid starts app which was super helpful! Xx
Give him anything and everything you can (obviously without salt or sugar). It helps to look up recipes. Also as for the nursery, I made a list of the things my baby had tried when she started as she was only 8 months, specifically highlighting the allergens she's tried and not tried
Mines nearly a year and there are still a few things she hasn't had and we are still in the lump/heavily chopped up stage. She's getting more interest in whole foods so we have just started that where as before she wouldn't touch them. Nursery know this and they were like okay. I don't tend to give her what we have because my diet is terrible!! Last night she had broccoli, peas and cheese pureed (to make a sauce) with pasta and a yogurt afterwards. For breakfast today she had porridge with blueberries and then some more blueberries where I have mc Donald's breakfast. For lunch she's having toast with soft veg and maybe a yogurt. Today I'm having mc Donald's..... see a theme 🫠🫠. I just never fancy food. I usually live of mayo on bread as a stapple.
It isn’t being done to make you feel bad they are just trying to find out if you’ve tried the allergens nursery’s accommodate to your child I work in one and that’s what we do we find out routine at home when they sleep and what they are eating
In regards to food I just give my little boy everything that I eat.
