Nursery for 3yr old!

Hello! I’m hoping someone might be able to help. We’re new to Colchester and I’m a first time Mummy to our little one (2yrs 5months). Regarding nurseries and the funded hours, I’m getting very confused 😩 I’d like her to start when she’s 3, but will I still get the funded hours even though it’s only my husband that works? And also how do you find a nursery in the first place?! Is it done on a catchment system the same as schools or can you choose any? And how far in advance do you have to apply? Thank you for any help!

Banana moon in Colchester has availability x

Yes, you will get funding. Every 3 year old is entitled to 15 hours. Nursery's aren't done on catchment area, you can pick any you want. However alot of nurseries have long waiting lists. Also some nurseries will charge fees on top of the free hours so that's worth asking. Rosies preschool take children for the 15 hour funding and don't have any extra fees just a £1 donation towards snack. My son is very happy there.

@Amy thank you so much for this!

You can message me if you want any more information 😊
