Constant cough and runny nose

Does anyone else's little one constantly have a runny nose and cough? My son has had a cough for about 8 weeks and runny nose for around a month now. I've been to the GP twice about his cough as it sounds chesty but they checked his chest and all is clear. They just keep putting it down to being viral. He goes to a childminder a few days a week too so I know that won't help him keep getting bugs etc. It's just constant and I don't know what else to do 😞

When my son first started nursery, he had a snotty nose and cough for months. There always seemed to be something wrong with him, but to be honest, now he rarely gets anything. I think it just takes time for their immune system to adapt, especially when they first start going around other children.

Has he ever been tested for any allergies? My little boy has some food ones but when tested it came back with dust mites too, which explains his constant cold like symptoms. Anti histamines help 😊

We’ve had a constant snotty nose and new cough every other week since October when he started nursery 😭 praying summer brings some relief!

Mines been like this since July!! It’s honestly soul destroying as it’s every week but I hope it’ll be building amazing immune system

@Georgie no he hasn't, he doesn't have any food allergies but I didn't think of dust mites. I'll try the antihistamines thank you 🙂

Yes, same here. We’ve been prescribed antibiotics, but I refuse to give them to him. I think he needs to build his immune system.
