Does your little one independently put on their coat?

Just curious as my little boys latest report from nursery says he can't independently dress himself, for example, putting on his coat to go outside. I didn't even know this was expected yet 🙈

My daughters nursery report said the same! I looked it up on the nhs ages and stages and it doesn’t seem to be a milestone until about 4. I queried it with her nursery and they said it’s a skill they try and teach all the kids in the toddler room as it’s quicker/safer to transfer into the garden if more of them can put their own coats on

He like puts his arms out to help and pushes them through but doesn’t get dressed by himself entirely no

Yes mine can but still needs help fastening it. I started November time ready for her going to the childminders in January. Google the coat flip

My daughter’s nursery have just taught them all the coat flip and it works quite well!

@Elizabeth My little boy does this too!

@Siobhan that's good to know, thank you!

I have tried to teach “the coat flip” so many times, it’s incredibly entertaining but my little one is not putting her coat on yet, no

He puts his arm out for me to guide the sleeve on and has the right idea and understands what I'm doing when I say put your coat on. He can also pull his trousers up. We are in no rush ☺️ He has mastered taking it off though haha

Mine has been able to do it since 1. Look up the montessori coat flip. So easy to teach them.
