Advice or some reassurances

I feel so drained right now. My little boy seems to get unwell every other week. I’m so tired of it, I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if its immune system is just shocking! He’s either getting a cough, cold, vomiting or having a fever. He’s been on antibiotics two weeks ago for a chest infection. He’s been going nursery since January and I know you pick up all sorts but I’m so careful with everything. Washing him, using antibacterial for his hands when he’s touched something. Giving him his daily vitamins but I’m just tired of him being unwell every other week. I’m genuinely fearing that he may have a weak immune system and really need to get him seen to by specialist but my husband and mil think I’m daft and overthinking. My anxiety is out the roof if I know he’s around his cousins/friends that are ill. I don’t let him go anywhere if I know someone’s ill. It’s become so bad that I’ve had a full blown argument with my in-laws because they gave him cold yogurt when he was coughing and he started vomiting. They think I’m losing it at this point. Is it normal for kids to be this unwell?

You pointed out the fact he just started nursery in January!! My daughter started end of February. Their little bodies aren’t used to be around so many other little toddlers and let’s be honest here, toddlers can be so messy and dirty sometimes, they all touch the same toys and play with the same things so it’s not surprising at all. Furthermore my daughter started nursery 4 weeks ago and has only been in once a week since she started because she comes home and gets sick from nursery, she has contracted norovirus and conjunctivitis all within the past two weeks. However, that being said, if you are still truly concerned and would feel better if you were seen by a specialist then by all means do so, there’s no harm in it even if he is okay x I think you should also be kinder to yourself, being a mum isn’t easy at all and sometimes we all get anxious about certain things, especially if they are our first born❤️ just remember that you’re doing an amazing job x

The first 3-6 months after my LO started nursery were brutal. He went for 2 days a week and we literally spent the other 5 days getting him better just to go off to nursery and pick the next bug up! It's horrible and exhausting but it will happen whenever they start in an environment like that, if you held off on nursery he would be catching all these illnesses when he started school instead. We kept going with his vitamins and introduced some probiotics drops (bio gaia) and we saw an improvement with those drops. Then we made sure we had some strong vitamins ourselves too! With the better weather and the length of time your LO has been going to nursery you will hopefully turn a corner soon but if you are worried have a chat with your GP, you may feel better after he's been checked over by a doctor x

I think you're doing everything right. When they start nursery they catch EVERYTHING. It should start settling soon now the weather is getting warmer. I've found putting my LB in a long sleeved button shirt and jumper for preschool keeps him warmer and he doesn't have a runny nose as much. Its so hot in there though, alot of kids run around in just a long sleeve t-shirt, or thin jacket, then run outside in a coat and probably get cold 🥲

Id say we had 6 months of illness when my lo started nursery. Totally normal
