Becoming a brat

Any moms struggling with their babies not listening 🙉 or basically whining till they get what they want or don’t want. I obviously know he’s acting like a typical 15 month old, but I also don’t want to raise a brat. Anyone else struggling with this ?

Such a fun phase 😬 We were told our tantrums started “earlier than usual” so we’ve been dealing with the whining and throwing himself to the ground for a little over two months now! #SoBlessed. My son has been using his words a lot lately (16 months as of yesterday) so if he starts to whine, I say the word of what he wants then I don’t acknowledge the whining until he repeats the word instead of whining. If he wants to be picked up, for example, and he whines or starts stomping his feet, I don’t pick him up or even look at him until I clearly hear “up” or “please” then I immediately pick him up and praise him! This has significantly decreased the whining thank goodness! 🙌🏻 but i know it’s only the beginning lol

I was just saying this! My daughter is so spoiled being the only girl but I swear this is a new level. With my boys I ignored it and they would stop. With her , she can hit some high pitches. I can’t wait till we grow out of it.

It’s a phase. We are going through it too. We just stay calm until She clearly asks for what she wants or calms down. It’s hard when the grandparents cave and just give in though when the screams happen.

They are way too young to be brats lol but I had similar fears with my 1st at this age. For now, we just have to address their needs while naming the thing we're doing for them so that they learn the words they'll use later. Bratness starts forming closer to 2 or 3 I think, and that's when we'll have to be more strict about "use your words or I can't help you."

@Jen omg this! My son’s grandpa i feel is making the whining and getting his way worse! My husband and I ignore and just let him calm down or distract him with another activity but my dad will come out of nowhere to pick him up and carry him off which enables it

@Joelle same! I feel comfortable telling my mom who is her babysitter to not cave and wait until she’s calm, but man oh man, those in laws who don’t see her as much cave at the slightest fuss. They also baby talk her like no ones business. I don’t have the heart or guts to say anything.
