Nursery illnesses

This might be quite naive of me… but why do kids get so ill constantly at nursery when you’re not meant to send them in ill? Why doesn’t anything get cleaned? Are the kids not told to wash their hands? I am dreading sending my girl to nursery. I am immunosuppressed and I really can’t afford to have time off work all the time 🙄

They get ill because often viruses are contagious whilst the child isn't showing signs of being really ill yet. Especially things like chickpox, the spots often turn up after they've spread the virus. And you'd still send them in with colds and coughs.

Its also a natural process of building up their immunity, being exposed to viruses/illnesses they haven't yet x

Honestly since my son started a year ago he’s only had the odd cold and hand, foot & mouth. He’s been very fortunate I guess!
