Weaning

So my LG was born at 27 weeks so she is now 5 months but only 2 months corrected. So my main question is that my health visitor has said as soon as she is holding her head up confidently we can start weaning but I would have thought she’d have to be 6 months corrected. I’m unsure of what to do TIA

My baby was only 2 months early, doctor approved solids at 4 months actual (not even adjusted!!). We waited until she could sit up with little assistance, held her head up perfectly, and actually showed interest in food. It ended up being a couple weeks before 6 months adjusted. But we took it really slowly and didn't have her try for more than a couple minutes at a time once a day for a while

I was told to wean at 6 months actual. In the same way they have vaccinations at their actual age not corrected. I think my 28 weeker was closer to 7 months when she could sit with little support. We did baby led weaning too and it was so fun!

Not my personal experience, but friend’s baby was 8 weeks early and she was advised by a dietitian and doctors for her son to go ahead with weaning at 6 months like a normal baby

My second baby was a 34weeker. We started at 6 months but she was much slower to pick it up compared to her older sister. We probably didn’t give it a full go until she was 7 ish months. Try at 6 months and see how you get on! Food before 1 is just for fun, you know your own baby 🩷
