Going for a membrane sweep at Week 40. But if it doesn't work, they are saying to do an induction after 48hrs.
I'm inclined to do another sweep. But that'll put me at 40+3 and above and not sure if it's risky for baby?
Baby is measuring slightly larger in their abdomen and my fluid levels are slightly above (20cm, but typical pregnancy might be 18cm).
I could use some stories from people who may have been in a similar boat. What happened in your situations?
I'm worried the induction will be longer and more painful. I'll be stuck in the hospital and restricted and more likely to go down the interventions route...
Whilst at the birth centre, I feel like I'll be able to trust my body more and be less pressured... but if I do an induction, it ruins my chances of giving birth at the birth centre.
I'm not sure if I'm being selfish by wanting to go natural at the birth centre but then risking the baby getting bigger
Completely anecdotal but my first was spontaneous at 40+5 no GD, my second was induced at 38+2 with GD. My spontaneous labour suffered a cascade of interventions and ended up with 10 professionals in the room for an assisted birth, I had sepsis and he was born with meningitis. My induction was quicker, less painful, easier recovery and more importantly was just us and 1 midwife delivering a perfectly healthy baby. I loved my induction, had the epidural with my first but did it with just gas and air with my second đ
