That's amazing! We absolutely should be teaching our kids to take care of the planet and also how to do "menial" tasks.
I think it depends where you live, the beach near me is relatively clean but some could have needles or anything there so definitely not safe for our little ones to be picking it up!
I like the principle and I’m sure they wear adequate protective gloves etc. but I’d be pretty concerned about what little ones might end up picking up 😬
I think it's a great idea for older children but because of their age and not knowing any better I would be worried about them picking up bad things like needles, broken glass, used condoms and God knows what else they may find
Maybe not for nursery children as their curiosity is strong and will just pick up anything they see
Not for that age. Same as others have said, I’ve seen needles and used tampons on beaches. I think when they’re older and can follow a set list of rubbish to pick up (eg. Crisp packets, cans, bottles) it’s a good idea, but not for nursery kids
Those are all valid concerns. For us it's a small beach just down the hill from the school. It's located between two schools (ages up to 12) and a beloved spot for the retired and dog walkers 😊 My daughter goes to a small Montessori nursery which means the older children help the younger ones, and they are well staffed for the small group.
She's the youngest among them at 21 months old and here (Sweden) you are in nursery until 5 years old.
Our nursery is next to a community park/garden area and they regularly do litter picking, I think it's great! It's a quiet countryside area so there's unlikely to be anything crazy there and they're watched of course (plus only use littler pickers)
Not that young and definitely not without me. 😌
I think it's brilliant, day at the beach and giving back. Just done a project with my son about water pollution and I was flawed by some of the facts I've learnt ♥️♥️♥️♥️
My son picks up rubbish at the park because he wants to 😂 he goes around picking rubbish up and putting it in the bin he finds it fun lol. Nothing wrong w that
I think it’s great!!
