Roller skating

Hi guys! I’m 6 weeks and already missing my number 1 hobby which is skating. There’s so much conflicting advice online from mums who continued skating all through their pregnancy and mums who said it’s not worth the risk. I don’t fall unless I’m trying something new but worried people will judge… my doctor won’t speak to me and said wait for midwife appointment which is another month away 🫠 what do we think? Has anyone had any advice? If you fall at 6 weeks (I know how to fall safely) is it a disaster?!

Show your support

I would hold off on it till your probably further down and then I'd say take it steady, maybe skate but have your baby pram to push for support in front so you can stop yourself falling, weight is very different when pregnant and you may find your balance is not great too. I love skating also and missed it when pregnant, me and my partner are starting roller skating again this summer, just need to collect our skates from partners mums clean them and off we go

Not a skater but I have horses and rode up to 23 weeks, made a couple of adjustments like not going by yourself so you have help if needed and you’ll know your own body, as you change shape your balance changes, also if things start to hurt it’s time to stop. Most of the exercise advice for pregnancy just tends to be don’t start anything new that you weren’t doing before but would definitely be worth having a conversation with someone with medical training x

Also not a skater but I snowboarded off piste with wee jumps and a few tumbles included until the end of my first trimester. But I can imagine it might be a different story if you skate on concrete
