thinking about switching to formula

so I’ve been pumping for 2 months now because of weight gain issues i just decided to switch to pumping. I think I’m done. It’s just annoying to have to wash all these pump parts/bottles and then pumping around the clock. How do I go about switching to formula and how do I dry up my supply? Did it cause any issues for you if you switched? I’m worried that im gonna cause her to be constipated. Idk im just done.

I also have about 300 oz in the fridge so I could literally quit today and have enough to feed her for quite a while.

I just started adding formula to my breast milk bottles slowly until it was all formula. I pumped until my baby was 3 months and couldn’t take it anymore. My baby did fine and never had any issues switching. I also didn’t really do anything to stop my supply it kinda dried up on its own 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I know that’s not the case for everyone! Do your research and consult your pediatrician for which formula is best for your baby and go from there. Mine just had me start on the basic/standard kind and you only switch if it’s causing your baby issues.

Hey girl, so I was in the same boat as you. I was so over pumping since it just didnt realistically fit into my schedule. I was so stressed when I wasnt able to pump in time so i started to be in pain all the time. The washing of the pump parts after EACH session just threw me over the edge. I was lucky enough to have a freezer stash to keep my baby going but as it got closer to finishing, I started adding in formula little by little. I knew which formula to choose only because when my son was in the Nicu and I couldnt get there for feeds they had no choice but to choose one for him so I stuck with that and confirmed with his dr. I kinda just went cold turkey. Use tons of colddddddd cabbage leaves. Good luck!

I was so ready to finish pumping as Mastitis caused me to dry up a bit. And I just ended up quitting cold turkey.. that was when baby was 5 months.. he’s almost 8 months now and I have used all of my freezer stash and gave him the last few ounces the other day and I wanted to actually cry.. 😭 I didn’t think not being able to give my baby “ mommy” milk would be so hard 😭

@Celecia Ive been ready to quit since the first week and I just can’t because I know im gonna feel bad about it 😩

@Allie it hurts my heart literally lol!

I've heard that sudafed dries up supply very quickly! Use your freezer stash and mix it with formula. You're doing a great job ❤️
