Capillary vs Vein Glucose Test

Hi! I got my 1hr glucose test done last week and failed it, so I had my 3hr today. Because I still had a small bruise from the 1hr test on my left arm, and my right arm 'didn't have any suitable veins', the tech opted to do finger pricks for my four 3hr draws. Judging from the results (doctor hasn't interpreted yet) I'd have passed the fasting and 1hr, but failed the 2nd and 3rd hour. However, digging further into it I am finding that capillary blood draws can show 15-20% higher glucose levels than vein blood draws, and that capillary draws aren't recommended for GD testing. With this in consideration, if I adjust my levels -15%, I'd have passed every stage. Curious to see what my doctor ends up saying, but I hate thinking I might be designated as high risk and have talk of early induction and whatnot just because I got capillary draws and not vein draws. Has anyone else had this happen?

How did it turn out for you?

@Emily I ended up being diagnosed with GD, she said she didn't think there would be enough of a difference. But all my levels since have been totally fine, easily diet managed with little to no diet changes

Oh that is wonderful to hear! I decided to skip the three hour and go straight for finger pricking monitoring. Hoping I can manage mine and still go through with minimal interventions. Praying you get to still do the things you want!
