Gel nails during pregnancy

30 weeks tomorrow and just had my nails done in a Chinese nail salon for the first time since being pregnant. Now come home to read this could be dangerous. Has anyone else had gel nails done in one of these salons or have any information they could share regarding this if it is safe or not? Was only in the salon for 40 mins maximum.

I’ve been having my nails done every 2/3 weeks. I never heard it wasn’t safe 🫣

I think the fumes in there are generally not great. And maybe the UV to cure the gel? I’ve personally stayed away as gutting as that is and have been using the non toxic nail polish at home - it is NOT the same!

Hi I’m a nail tech ! In terms of gel polish it is completely safe for your nails however these chop shops may not be your best bet during pregnancy. You may be best off going to an individual nail salon. We use higher quality products and are a lot more sanitary than your local Chinese shop that has you in and out in 40 mins

I have had mine done throughout every 3 weeks. I do go to an independent nail salon rather than a Chinese one. And see the same person each time who.i trust
